Compressed Air Equipment for the Wheatstone Project
Nessco Pressure Systems was approached by a major Oil & Gas company to supply compressed air equipment for work associated with the Wheatstone Project.
The project required compressors, dryers and supporting air treatment equipment within a tight timeframe. NPS coordinated the equipment selection, documentation and supply, with the complete package required within two weeks of receiving the order.
Selecting the compressed air equipment
The application required a complete compressed air package rather than a standalone compressor.
Based on the project requirements, NPS supplied:
- Two CSB 25 IVR variable speed compressors
- Two CDX 52 compressed air dryers
- Appropriate compressed air filtration
- Fittings and supporting equipment
Pairing the compressors with dryers and filtration provided the air treatment required for the application while allowing the equipment to operate as a complete system.
The variable speed compressors could also adjust their output as compressed air demand changed, making them suitable for applications where air requirements varied during operation.
Meeting the project timeframe
Equipment availability formed an important part of the project.
NPS needed to coordinate the compressors, dryers, filtration, fittings and associated documentation within a two-week supply window.
Our team managed the equipment package from order through to supply, helping keep the project moving within the required timeframe.
The project also required supporting documentation and certification relevant to the equipment supplied. NPS coordinated these requirements as part of the package.
Providing technical support beyond equipment supply
The scope extended beyond supplying the equipment.
Two project engineers met with NPS to discuss the proposed installation and seek technical advice on how to configure the compressed air equipment.
This allowed the project team to consider the compressor, air treatment and installation requirements together rather than treating each piece of equipment separately.
For projects where equipment will operate interstate, overseas or at a remote site, getting these details right before dispatch can help simplify installation once the equipment reaches its destination.
Supporting complex compressed air projects
The Wheatstone Project compressed air package is an example of NPS working with a project team to meet specific equipment, documentation and delivery requirements.
While the equipment in this project reflects the technology available at the time, the approach remains relevant today: understand the required pressure, flow, air quality, operating conditions and project requirements before selecting the equipment.
Nessco Pressure Systems supports industrial, mining and resources projects with compressor selection, air treatment, system design, installation and technical support.
Whether equipment is required for a local facility or a project further afield, our team can help specify a compressed air package around the requirements of the application.
