Compressed Air System Installation for an Oil and Gas Facility
As part of a major expansion and relocation, an international oil and gas company required a complete compressed air system for its new facility in Western Australia.
The company was moving production to a larger premises to support its growing workload. With two warehouses covering almost 10,000 m², the new facility required a reliable and cost-effective compressed air distribution system.
The system needed to support several applications, including subsea testing, fabrication and pressure testing. It also needed to be designed, installed and commissioned within a tight project timeframe.
Designing the compressed air system
Nessco Pressure Systems reviewed the proposed compressed air layout alongside the site’s requirements and planned equipment use.
The original design proposed three separate legs supplied from a single airline. After assessing the facility, our team recommended a complete ring main system instead.
A ring main allows compressed air to reach points of use from multiple directions. For this facility, the design helped maintain consistent airflow throughout the two warehouses while providing an effective distribution network across the large site.
Safety at the point of use
Each drop leg incorporated Infinity safety couplings.
These couplings help protect users when disconnecting pneumatic tools and equipment by reducing the risk associated with the sudden release of compressed air.
Including the appropriate fittings and connection points formed an important part of designing the system around how compressed air would be used throughout the facility.
Managing the project from design to commissioning
NPS managed the compressed air project from the initial system recommendations through to installation and commissioning.
With the customer’s relocation underway, coordinating the project around the required completion date was particularly important. Our team worked to deliver the complete system within the project timeframe so the facility could support its planned production requirements.
Complete compressed air solutions
Nessco Pressure Systems designs and installs compressed air systems for workshops, manufacturing facilities, minesites and other industrial operations across Perth and regional WA.
